Installed and Managed an Apache Web Server
My experience with Apache comes primarily as a local web server to test web scripts and review potential contact management systems. In the earlier days of the Collegian Web project, when I was involved in efforts to create a custom content management system, my colleague and I developed in PHP against an Apache web server. This content management system was to utilize MySql as the database (managed via PEAR::DB).
I’ve also mentored my cousin as to how to run a web server for a project he had to maintain the website for his local volunteer fire hall. This configuration changed as the hardware changed, however the use of Apache has stayed constant, even as the host web server operating system changed from SuSe Linux, to Ubuntu Linux and Windows 2000.
